Balance & Time Management In Medical School
The thing that I found to be the most challenging for me was time management. As you can tell, I haven’t posted on my blog in a while. If I had to give myself a grade for time management, I would get…hmmm is there anything lower than failing?! Maybe F-. Prior to starting school, I worked a full-time job, exercised 2-3 times per week, and studied to take the MCAT. So, where did all the time go once school started? School became one of my top priorities. I devoted most of my time to studying, but still felt like I struggled just to keep up. I think I had this…

Medical School, If Only I Knew…
Medical school is HARD! I was aware that medical school would be a difficult journey, but it is hard for other reasons that I did not consider. I knew I would be studying for long hours. Leave-ins are perfect because they provide moisture to your hair, soften and detangle your strands, and prevent breakage. All of these benefits are important for natural hair, type 4 hair especially. Below are my top 5 leave-in conditioners. I have purchased…

Lessons from a Non-Traditional Pre-Med Student: My Journey to Medical School
One word that would describe my medical school journey is: Persistence. I am sharing this story because I feel that people don’t share their struggle stories as often. I’ve talked to many pre-meds who were accepted after their first application cycle and I see perfectly created posts from medical school students all over instagram. Even with all that, I know there are also people who are struggling to reach their goals. YOU ARE NOT ALONE! I knew getting into medical school wouldn’t be easy. However, I DID NOT expect the many hurdles along the way. I stumbled, crawled and jumped. I gave it my all; blood, sweat and tears. I’m…

My Natural Hair Journey
Where should I begin… Growing up, my mother always did my hair. She kept my hair relaxed because it was easier to manage but to me it felt like torture. I hated the whole process; burning pain, itchy scalp, and hours of sitting under a dryer. She always kept my hair in pigtails with lots of bows or ribbons. My hair seemed to grow so easily, despite relaxing it. It was the longest my hair has probably ever been; at least that was until I decided I wanted to be like the other girls at school who were doing their hair themselves (insert eye roll). I tried to style it like…
